KYKO detects an extrovert by the scores of three dimensions.

  1. Sociocentric dimension defined as the need, want or desire for love, care, companionship, social acceptance and interactions. A high sociocentric individual is friendly, gregarious and enjoys mixing and interacting with others.
  2. Egocentric dimension defined as the need for power, image, status, recognition and to take control of the environment. An egocentric individual is dominant, confident, enjoys being in the limelight and ensure his or her presence is felt in a crowd.
  3. Security dimension defined as the need for safety, order, system, structure and protection. A low security individual is adventurous and is willing to take risk. Mixing with people and talking with a group of people requires an individual to take risk.

Thus a high sociocentric-egocentric personality with low security needs is an extrovert.

  1. An introvert has low need, want or desire for love, care, companionship and social acceptance and interaction. An individual who is asocial is cautious, guarded and reserved. He or she does not take the initiative to mix around and interacts with others. Introverts are generally shy and prefer to watch rather than mingling and talking in a crowd.
  1. Introverts have a low egocentric personality. They are permissive, lack confidence and prefer to remain unnoticed in a crowd.
  1. Introverts have a high need safety, order, system and protection. They are cautious and would not take risk interacting with others.

Hence a low sociocentric-egocentric with high security personality is an introvert.

Incidentally, it is difficult to draw a line between a preferred extrovert or introvert. A person may choose to be an extrovert when he interacts with his or her subordinates and peers.  He may choose to become introverted when interacting with bosses and very important people.

Moreover, a person can give a fiery speech on the stage but may not be gregarious, outgoing and mixes freely with people.  A good example is the late Michael Jackson.  On the stage he is an extrovert. But when he is off the stage he becomes introverted.
